Ages 13 & 14

Woburn Little League's sixth level of baseball is the Junior Select division, also referred to as the Middle School team. Similar to other divisions, coaching instruction is provided by parent volunteers. At this level, coaches continue teaching baseball fundamentals, participation and teamwork.

TEAM ASSIGNMENT

Junior Select Baseball is an 13-14 year-old ability based team. All players registered for 50/70 Baseball & Big Diamond Baseball are eligible to attend a mandatory tryout in early spring & will be evaluated by the league and assigned manager. Players not selected for the Junior Select team will be re-assigned to the 50/70 (13 year old) division or Big Diamond (Age 14 - 16). Players receive a uniform shirt & hat.

SEASON OVERVIEW

Woburn teams are entered into the District 13 Middlesex Big Diamond League (MBDL) travel league. The regular season typically runs from the beginning of April to Mid-June including playoffs. Games will be typically played on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Games are played on the full 60/90 Diamond under full Big Diamond rules. At the end of the year the team with the best record will be crowned regular season champion, each team will qualify for the playoffs with one team being crowned champion

Woburn Little League works closely with the High School program and offers Summer Baseball Opportunities for all Junior Select Baseball Participants.

GAMES/PRACTICES

Each game should last 90-120 minutes. Cross-town games will be played against teams from Lynnfield, North Reading, Stoneham, & Wilmington. Coaches may add additional practices at their discretion. Games and practices are held primarily at Ferullo Field.

After the game, players line up at home plate and shake hands with their opponents. Sportsmanship is extremely important and is a continued focus at this level.
