50/70 Baseball

Age 13

Woburn Little League's fifth level of baseball is the 50/70 division. Similar to other divisions, coaching instruction is provided by parent volunteers. At this level, coaches continue teaching baseball fundamentals, participation and teamwork.

TEAM ASSIGNMENT

50/70 Baseball is an 13 year-old division offering a transition for players between the standard Little League field size (46-foot pitching distance and 60-foot base paths) and the Junior/Senior/Big League field size (60-foot, 6-inch pitching distance, and 90-foot base paths). All players registered for 50/70 Baseball are eligible to attend a tryout for the Junior Select team. Players not selected for the Junior Select team will be assigned to the 50/70 (13 year old) division. Players receive a uniform shirt & hat.

12-year old players in the Majors division can be duel rostered w/ the 50/70 team.

SEASON OVERVIEW

Woburn teams are entered into the District 13 Middlesex Big Diamond League (MBDL) travel league. The regular season typically runs from the beginning of April to Mid-June including playoffs. Games will be typically played on Thursdays and Sundays (Final Schedule TBD). Games are played on the full 50/70 Diamond under Little League Rules. At the end of the year the team with the best record will be crowned regular season champion, each team will qualify for the playoffs with one team being crowned champion

Woburn Little League works closely with the High School program and offers Summer Baseball Opportunities for all Junior Select Baseball Participants.

GAMES/PRACTICES

Each game should last 90-120 minutes. Cross-town games will be played against teams from Lynnfield, North Reading, Stoneham, & Wilmington. Coaches may add additional practices at their discretion. Games and practices are held primarily at Leland Park.

After the game, players line up at home plate and shake hands with their opponents. Sportsmanship is extremely important and is a continued focus at this level.
