Ages 7 - 12

Jimmy Fund Little League presented by Franklin Sports provides more than 5,000 Little League baseball and softball players throughout New England the chance to continue playing after their regular season ends, while fundraising for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. These players raise vital funds for the Jimmy Fund while learning the importance of philanthropy and volunteerism, and that they, too, can make a difference in the fight against cancer.

COST

Registration for the Jimmy Fund League is $110 per player. Woburn Little League will donate $60 of the registration cost in the player's name to the Jimmy Fund.

TEAM ASSIGNMENT

Teams are separated into 3 Divisions

• 7 - 8 Year Old
• 9 - 10 Year Old
• 11 - 12 Year Old

Based on registration numbers, teams will be evenly distributed by the coaches. Specific team requests can not be honored.

 

SEASON OVERVIEW

The season will run from End-June through the beginning of August. Teams will play 8-10 games over the course of four weeks, with all qualifying* team making the single-elimination playoffs, which are held right after the season.

• Teams bat in a continuous order, batting until three outs.
• Players will pitch to other teams with pitching limitations (according to Little League rules by age)

GAMES/PRACTICES

Each game should last 90-120 minutes. Teams will play at least 2-3 games a week with league assigned unpatched junior umpires. Coaches may add additional practices at their discretion. Games and practices are held primarily at Leland Park, and Weafer Park using 60-foot base paths (standard Little League dimensions).

Batters hit player-pitch (with swinging strikeouts) with virtually all standard baseball rules adhered to with some limitations.

After the game, players line up at home plate and shake hands with their opponents. Sportsmanship is extremely important and is a continued focus at this level.

Each Player should provide their own

• Glove
• Batting Helmet
• Bat
• Baseball Cleats: Metal cleats are NOT ALLOWED IN THIS DIVISION

*Each team is required to raise $500 to qualify for the end-of-year playoffs and are encourage to raise money for this great cause.
